Andrew R. Crichlow, M.D.

Dr. Andrew R. Crichlow is an Anesthesiologist specializing in Pain Medicine who recently joined the Blue Ridge Pain Management community. Having grown up on the island of Trinidad in the West Indies of the Caribbean, Dr. Crichlow moved with his family to Miami, FL at the age of 15. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Biology and Education and later a Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Miami. During this time Dr. Crichlow obtained his US citizenship. He worked several years in the business sector of Miami, while also serving his country as a US Marine combat field operator in a US Marine reserve unit in Florida for 6 years. During his service as a US Marine combat radio operator, he was deployed in 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He completed his tour of duty with the rank of Sergeant.

After working in the private sector in Florida for several years, Dr. Crichlow moved with his family to Virginia to attend medical school at University of Virginia. After medical school, he completed an inter year in General Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, and then returned to the University of Virginia to complete a residency in Anesthesiology, and fellowship in Pain Medicine. During his medical training, Dr. Crichlow gained personal experience and insight on the patient side of medicine as his youngest son was born with a birth defect requiring several surgeries and months of hospital admission. These personal experiences strengthened his desire to provide relief for patients, and have given him compassion and understanding for patients for patients struggling with quality of life in the mist of numerous medical and personal issues.

Dr. Crichlow recently moved to Roanoke with his wonderful wife of 16 years and their three sons. He enjoys playing soccer every chance that he gets, and has achieved the rank of Black Belt in Karate. He is also an expert at caring for his son’s daily medical and personal needs, tickling, wrestling and helping with math homework. He looks forward to being a part of the Blue Ridge Pain Management community, and working to find the best pain management solutions to improve the quality of life for each of his patients.
